Winter FAQ

Do I need 4 wheel or all-wheel drive? 

It is recommended although not necessary.  Resort roads are well-maintained during winter months however considering the consistent and often unpredictable lake-effect snow, it definitely helps.  Also, many people take advantage of the Peek N’ Peak shuttle service that runs holidays and weekends during ski season.  The shuttle will pick you up at the front of the house and drop you off anywhere on resort property.  This means that in many cases, once your car is parked it can stay that way until your departure. Information on how to call the shuttle is in the house binder in the kitchen.

Where do I park? 

One car can fit under the carport.  There is space for 4-5 additional cars on our half of the governor’s driveway. 

How do I get into the house on my arrival day? 

The arrival time is 4:00 pm.  A 4-digit code with instructions will be sent to you via text message on the day of your arrival. You can use this code for the duration of your stay.  

How do I access WiFi?  

Wifi login will be included with your checkin information.  It is also posted in the house on the shelf by the front door.

Where is the nearest lift? 

We are across the street from Lifts #1 and #2, which are approximately 40 yards from the front of the house.  You can access The Retreat restaurant and bar at the bottom of this slope. You can also walk to lift #3 which will take you to the ticketing office and main lodge and is about 75 yards to the right out the driveway.  Click ​HERE​ to view the trail map or check trail conditions.

What should we bring? 

Towels and bed linens are included. We do recommend bringing extra throws or blankets for lounging. Many household items in starter supply will be provided for you as well. 

We also include the following to get you started:

-1 roll paper towels

-1 tall kitchen garbage bag

-1 Roll of toilet paper per bathroom

-2 coffee (#4 cone) filters for our classic 12-cup coffee maker 

-1 travel size dish soap

-A limited supply of detergent packets 

There is a small grocery, Twin Docks Gourmet Food and Deli, as well as a Dollar General near Findley lake about 10 miles down the road. Millers Grocery, and Sherman’s Grocery Outlet are all within 5 miles. For a larger selection, Super Wal-mart, Aldi, and Sam's Club as well as other chains are located about a 30 minute drive towards Erie.

What is included in the kitchen and house? 

We do our best to maintain a well-stocked kitchen to help make our guests feel at home. Upon arrival, take a moment to review the house binder on the counter for a detailed list of where to find things.  Feel free to message us prior to your trip if you have a question about the availability of specific items. 

Can I access the resort Pool Complex? 

The pool complex located inside the Peek N’ Peak Inn are at a separate cost through Peek'n Peak Resort and Spa. For up-to-date pool complex information, call the pool directly at 716-355-4141, ext. 7138 or check out pknpk.com for current pricing. 

What is there to do nearby? 

Visit the home page of our house website: Skibirdielodge.net or our Facebook page for local recommendations.  There are also brochures and flyers of area attractions in the letter carrier behind the front door.

What time is check-out? 

Check-out is 10:00 am.  Please review the checkout list on the refrigerator prior to your departure. 

Who do we contact in case of an emergency or if an urgent issue arises? 

In the case of an urgent or emergency maintenance issue, call the front desk first (716) 355-4141, then notify us by texting or calling Beth using the cell number where you received your door code.
